The Department of Transportation regulates that pressurized aerosol containers must be sent through a 131 degree minimum hot water bath equilibrium testing. While submerged, inspectors look for evidence of leakage, distortion, or defect. If multiple units fail the test, the run is stopped and returns to laboratory to evaluate the chemical composition and the packaging component specifications and selection.
MBC produces hot water bath testing machines in several differing styles to conform to the DOT regulations; the clip bath that holds the container around the valve, magnetic waterbaths for tin containers or puck based container holding systems, and the handline where the user manually loads the cans. These machines are capable of operation at a rate of 75 – 150 cans per minute.
